"This is a representation of how having a good friend feels to me: It's warm and comforting and makes me never want to let it go. It gives me hope. Hope that everything is going to be okay. It's a wonderful and beautiful feeling that I hope everyone has a chance to experience." AnActualPineapple

Artist: kmsande
Medium: Acrylic Paint
Artist Of The Week: (Apr. 2-8, 2017)

This seems like a good painting to start off the month of April with. It's the being of a new month and, similar to what has been beautifully illustrated in this acrylic painting by the artist kmsande, the sun is finally beginning to set on the cold and chilly winner. As the melting snow sets softly on the grass, beyond the trees, the setting sun slowly falls and marks the end of another day, another week, another month, and another season.
Although, it is never truly "the end," as the sun will always return to raise again and give birth to a new day, a new week, a new month, a new season, and so on. With it's dazzling colors, the setting sun  like a sign of love, peace, joy, tranquility, and eventually even the rebirth of something even more beautiful. Reminding us each morning that each day is truly a magnificent gift.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words because there's so much that can be said through just one single photo. So it's no surprise that photography happens to be a very popular art form amongst artist. There's nothing like picking up a camera and waiting to capture the perfect moment. For photographers the search for the perfect shot never stops because they see the world through a different lens than the normal eye. They are constantly searching for the beauty in world around them even when their camera is not at hand until eventually it just becomes habit to always be seeing the beauty in even the most unlikely of places.
Art is a very beautiful thing and it's something that can always be found anywhere in many different forms and this photo is a perfect example of how beauty can even exist within a single moment in time, which was beautifully captured but the photographer, Lain-AwakeAtNight. This photo truly is worth more than a thousand words and for me to even try and attempt to summarize all of those words would be quite redundant to both the artwork and the artist, as everything has already been perfectly said in this photograph far better then I could ever put into words.

Title: Virgo Lady
Artist: tahuputih404
Medium: Watercolor
Artist Of The Week: (Mar. 12-18, 2017)

Watercolor paintings are always intriguing to me. Theres a certain unique style and atmosphere that comes with watercolor so I'm always quite fascinated by what can be dome with the medium and this weeks Spirit Star City featured artwork happens to be another lovely example of what can be done with the art of watercolor painting.

The artist, tahuputih404, has done several unique watercolor paintings themed around the zodiac signs, such as this one, where the zodiac signs have each been illustrated in their own different distinct styles and characteristics. They are all very captivating pieces to look at and the nature of some are perhaps a little more bizarre then others but they are truly remarkable pieces to behold.

Trying to choose which of the watercolor painting I wanted to feature for Artist Of The Week was a bit of a challenge because they where all very wonderful works of art so I chose this pice simply because I was a Virgo. I'm really fascinated by astrology so the fact that the artist was able create watercolor paintings for each of the zodiac signs was something that I found really amazing.

Artist: Coscomomo
Medium: Digital Art
Artist Of The Week: (Mar. 5-11, 2017)

It seems like spring is finally starting to come a round, although, winter still sort of seems to come and go every now and again. Seeing as how winter is still on the mind for some people, this pice still seem pretty relatable to many people still experiencing winter.

I first encountered this pice on deviant art one day while I was browsing through some of the new art that was coming into DeviantArt and this captivating digital art pice stood out to me. I felt that this pice was different somehow and I was sure that there was meaning here so, after speaking with the artist about the artwork, I found that I was even more fascinated with the story behind this pice just as much as the pice its-self.

"From the above you can see where some of the inspiration comes from, the other big part of this particular piece comes from a moment when I was outside playing in the snow with my son (he was dressed very similar to the way I painted the character in the artwork btw) the snow was falling all around us and right in the middle of that playtime he looked up, he was watching how the snowflakes where drifting down so calmly, he looked so marveled, then the slightest breeze made me look up as well and then I imagined a white and almost invisible to the eye creature making that soft and barely noticeable breeze happen, what if it was a whale spirit??? Hehe. I remember once I saw some concept art for a videogame that fit what I had on my mind and it was so natural that the artwork practically made itself." -Coscomomo

Artist: A-Meridiem
Medium: Digital Art
Artist Of The Week: Feb. 19-25,  2017

This week for the Spirit Star City Artist Of The Week we have a fine digital art pice done by the artist know as A-Meridiem from DeviantArt. Something that stands out to me about this artist and their artwork is their unique style. They post a lot of digital art drawing/painting of different types of characters, like the one seen here, on their DeviantArt page using different styles of soft/smooth colors, backgrounds, and environments. Typically they usually tend to leave the faces of these characters fairly blank and open and which is something I find quite intriguing as I feel that it sort of leaves it up to the beholder to interpret what these characters are thinking and feeling. Although, here, in this pice we are give a little more detail and suggestion as to what this character is thinking and feeling. I think this is actually a fitting pick for this weeks Artist Of The Week since spring is finally coming around but it still gets a little chilly every now and again. I feel that this pice seems fairly cozy especially with the warm pink background.
